About Remembering Michael Sutherland
This is a group dedicated to the memory of Michael Sutherland who died with his girlfriend Lili Mei in a rafting accident on August 28, 2007 at age 42. The purpose of this group is not just to share pictures of Mike, but to share stories and anecdotes about him and celebrate what a great person he was and what a great life he lead. We also hope this group will be a way for family, colleagues, and friends of Mike old and new can connect and meet. Please join this group if you ever knew Mike, and of course please share with the group any photos you have.
Mike was from Wisconsin and and lived in Kunming, Yunnan in southwest China for over a decade. In Kunming he was affectionately nicknamed 'Bike Mike' by his friends in the expat community there because of his passion for all things bike related. Mike was known for his love of people and making friends; having a great sense of humor; an enthusiast of many different things including astronomy, hemp and risk 2210; and of course, being on bicycle without fail.
