Listen up, maggots! You don’t like me and I don’t like you, but as last medical eval proves I’m still human you had better listen to me and listen good if you wanna come out of this alive! My name is Sergeant Rex Malone, I’m an Elite Commander in the Special Forces and I’m a mean son of a gun! Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock these past few months, you’ll know that we are up to our eyeballs in zombie scumbags! Oh yes, its true. Some say this will be the end of the human race as we know it…I say if we all band together with a little know how and a can of whoop-ass we can wipe the zombie hordes off the planet for good by the end of Brickcon! That’s why I’ve been assigned to lead this challenge.
That’s right, people! Welcome to Zombie Apocalypse Killfest ‘09! And guess what, maggots…this will be the first LUGNuts challenge officially sponsored by the good ol’ boys over at Brothers-Brick. They’ll be monitoring our progress so progress had better be good!
Now I’ve had my share of confirmed kills and my experience proves that zombies are undead, thoughtless killing machines who will think nothing of eating your face off and scooping out that pudding mush you call a brain! You can’t talk to them. You can’t reason with them. The only thing these zombie freaks listen to is a baseball bat to the head, a shotgun blast to the face, or an electric cattle prod to the nutsack! So how are we gonna win this war, then? One thing we have at our advantage is zombies are dumber than a bag of hammers and you…well most of you anyway, can outsmart and outgun a zombie. Here’s what I want you LUGNuts to do…build yourself a badass zombie fightin’ vehicle! I don’t want tanks, military vehicles, or planes…I already got them. But what I need is civilian vehicles refurbished into the most badass war machines ever constructed in Lego! That means cars, trucks, bikes, RVs, tractors, farm machinery, garbage trucks…anything you can get your grubby little hands on, fitted with gun turrets, spikes, barbed wire, cages, armor, flame throwers, buzz saws…whatever you need to annihilate the zombie masses! If you haven’t the foggiest idea what I’m talking about, you may seek post-apocalyptic movies for inspiration, like say The Road Warrior or Death Race. Or check out what others have built lately and work from there. Them new fangled Space Police, Agents, and Power Miners sets have pieces and sticker sheets with skulls, graffiti, grime and other doodads that may help give your vehicles that post-apocalyptic badass quality you might be looking for. Dioramas and scenes of zombie killin’ madness are highly encouraged! You may build in any scale you want…however, if you are going to Brickcon and will be submitting your vehicles into the Brothers Brick’s Zombie Apocafest layout, they MUST be built in minifig scale. If you need incentive to enter submissions to their layout, they will have several prize categories this year and two of them are vehicle related! They will be giving trophies for best Original Zombified Vehicle as well as best LEGO Vehicle…this is a set you can buy that has been refurbished into a zombie fightin’ machine. If you get a wild hair and want to build above and beyond the call of duty, they also need burned out post-apocalyptic buildings matching Café Corner scale and standards. Trophies are also given to best buildings and structures on their layout...so make it a good one, and you just might be the talk of the town!
Today is September 1st, you have until October 1st…one month to build your creations and post them here. As always, build one or build many. This thread is for photo submissions and short write ups ONLY so don’t go flapping your gums about it, just build something! The other idea thread is for your questions, comments, concerns and any other gum flappin’ banter you maggots want to talk about. Got it? Good! Now lets show those zombie freaks we are not to be messed with! Get to it, LUGNuts!

Guys, seriously. Discussion is fine, but Lino's introduction and Rabidnovaracer's reminder make it clear that we have a separate thread for comments and discussion, so that the submissions thread can remain free from clutter. Let's stick to that, shall we?
On a separate note, beuk, the picture of your model is from August 14th. Lino didn't mention it explicitly, but entries for LUGNuts challenges are supposed to be newly built.

If you absolutely positively have to mow down a field full of zombies, accept no substitute. I bring you... The Zombine Harvester:

The farmers and ore miners of New Portsmouth got together soon after the apocalypse. Fed up of the zombie raids, they converted an old ore hauling truck into the ultimate in Zombie killing.

A couple of guys living in an old New York bomb shelter were driving along to find cars or trucks to fix, and they found a little hatch with a flat-4. They gave it a Gatling, sniper, and Minigun.

Sorry Lino that I'm a bit late to this challenge. Just a bit too busy with my final exam. And now, I show you the hybrid between PA and Sci-Fi themed Apoc Vehicle!
Just the combat scene that I made.

I give you, um, the apoc truck. Sorry, too late to think up any fancy names.
I also made a HUMVEE, a trailer for carrying it (with flamethrower) and four characters, including even Sargeant Rex Malone! Sorry, no cattle prods, but machine guns and flamethrowers galore.

I´ve got 2 entries comin at you in the thick of it at a recent zombie display put on by us in VicLUG.
First an apocafied version of one of my older creations.
And a creation inspired by a LEGO set built by my LUGmate Rod well before it had come out. This beauty has been kicking around for some time now a few weeks after last years BrickCon Zombie Apocafest if memory serves correct.

The zombie apocalypse means unemployment for those who provide food to the living. This heavily modified combine comes with two motion-sensing electric gatling guns and a special failsafe package strapped to the back.

They were going to save all this zombie killin' business for the breeders...but 130 Mai Tais later it just seemed like a good idea. Head to my photostream to learn more about the most ridiculous zombie fightin' vehicle ever made.

Yanno, it was actually a lot of fun to build a pink tractor.

The round-up is up, guys and gals. Have at 'er!

Where is next year's BrickCon? If it's close to Oregon, I might go, if my parents are willing to drive me there. Heh heh.
I'm so sad I missed it when it was in Portland. It was so close, and yet so far. There was my chance, and yet we left for Poland a month early. ;_;

BrickCon is always in Seattle and always the first weekend in October.
BrickFest is in Portland about every other year usually in April or May. The organizers of that one are a little less...lets say organized so we're never sure if/when they're having another one.
And there are others all over the country and the world. But you can always depend on BrickCon being in Seattle on the first weekend of every October.
