About Photography Critique Assignments - What's New
Welcome to the Photography Critique Assignments group. The goal of this group is to help you improve your photography while fostering your creative vision. One of the best ways to improve your photographic skills is through practice. The assignments put forth in this group are aimed at maintaining that practice with a group of fellow photographers who are working toward a common goal. This community effort allows for sharing of interpretations of assignments and application of photographic techniques. Feel free contribute to the discussion threads if you have questions or comments regarding the assignment.
Submitting an Image
You may post your submission for the assignment to the group pool any time after the last assignment has closed and before the closing slide for the current assignment drops (typically late Sunday, California time).
To help with house keeping, please tag your image as follows: pcaxxx - where xxx is the current assignment number (ex. pca146).
You can submit only ONE (1) image only per assignment.
The image has to be taken within the time span specified in the assignment and should include a WIT (a description of "What It Took" to get the shot). For details, please refer to the assignment threads.
Please refrain from sending the image to other groups before our group can review it. This will keep the posts down that we have to wade through!
Important
Submitting an assignment incurs an obligation to critique other entries for that assignment. Please critique at least 6 images: 3 to the right of yours and 3 to the left. If you come to the beginning or end of the submissions, jump to the other end of the submissions for the current assignment and continue from there! You can certainly critique more or all if you want. You are invited to critique even if you did not post for an assignment. We understand that life happens, but we would like to see the minimum number of comments completed within a few days after the assignment closes.
Please do not be intimidated by the critique process. There are many resources on how to approach critiques, but ultimately it is all about stating a bit of your reasoning behind your like or dislike of an image and how you think it might be improved.
Too much "all submit and no critique" will get you a warning, followed by an inability to participate further if the practice continues.
Submissions accumulated in the pool queue through the week are released into the pool all at the same time on the due date (Sunday morning and throughout the day). This method is intended to limit folks from being influenced by other members' work. Part of the challenge is creativity too! It is important to remember that assignments are not contests. They are intended to inspire some serious effort to grow as a photographer.

PCA History, Part 2 (continuation of Part 1)
We have two sister groups:
(1) Photography Critique, a group where you submit an image to the members for critical feedback on how to improve the shot and what to keep in mind for next time. The non-assignment based version of this group.
(2) Photography Critique - Discussions, which features a comfortable environment in which to draw up a chair, have a coffee, and discuss any photography related problems or queries you might have.
Together, all three groups are geared toward helping you improve your photography skills and the generation of wall-worthy images.
