Recently I was in Spain on my honeymoon and innocently and foolishly took in a bullfight. I really did not know what to expect but the torture and death of bulls was definitely not on my agenda. I guess I was naïve. I was disgusted and horrified at what I witnessed and was extremely ashamed that I had just paid to watch this inhumane act. I literally cried and had to walk out after the first fight only to hear the crowd cheer “OLE OLE” as this poor bull was being stabbed repeatedly.

For those of you who may regard bullfighting as a tradition or a sport are sadly mistaken. The bull does not have a chance of survival and the matadors have minimal chance of being injured and no chance of dying. This is not a sport – it is torture and murder of innocent bulls!

Although bullfighting is most commonly associated with Spain and Portugal, it currently takes place in at least nine countries around the world including France, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and the USA. While on my honeymoon, I met an animal’s rights group to see what I can do to help and I was told to help gather names for a petition.

So I please ask all of you from the bottom of my heart, please sign the petition to stop bullfighting in Spain. It would really mean a lot to me and maybe this is my little way to help ease my own guilt.
