"Really good. Move over Rolf Harris! " Five Stars somebody on the internet
"Gilbert & George, disguised as The Carpenters, steal the hits of Kraftwerk and bash them out on an old moog in the style of Section 25" Someone else on the internet.
Arthur and Martha are Adam Cresswell and Alice Hubley.
Adam was the founding member of indie-pop band Saloon. Saloon recorded two albums (this is) what we call progress (2002) and if we meet in the future (2003) and the compilation lo-fi sounds hi-fi heart (2006) all released by Track & Field (UK) / Darla (US.) The band toured throughout the UK and Europe, recorded 3 sessions for the BBC John Peel show and had 4 records in 'John Peel's Festive 50' including the number 1 in 2002.
One rainy afternoon while on tour in Leeds Adam met Alice. A friendship was sealed over a shared love of analog-synths and they promised that one day they would battle each other in an MS-10 face off. Alice was a key player in the Leeds music scene. She had brought her MS-10 and vocal skills to indie pop band The Seven Inches and kraut-pop band The Exteriors. She has sung on releases by Herman Dune, Bilge Pump and more. She is currently one-third of all girl party-band The Duloks. And under her DJ moniker Automated Alice she has brought joy to dancefloors across Europe.
After Saloon split in 2003, Adam turned to his beloved collection of analog synths for solace. When Alice moved to London, like a sick-synth wet-dream, the promised MS-10 face off happened. Alice gave focus to Adams synth noodling and, by taking influence from the great duos of the modern age (such as Ralf and Florian, Gilbert and George, Cannon and Ball) their new band Arthur and Martha were born.
