About Eugene Public Library Be amazed and awed by the lovely building housing the Eugene, Oregon main public library. Approved by city voters in November, 1998 of a four-year plan for new building operations that included two smaller branch libraries and related equipment. December of 2000 saw the ground-breaking ceremony downtown, marking the beginning of construction of a four-story library building totaling more than 125,000 sq feet. The main library seen today was completed in December of 2002 and opened to the city of Eugene on the 26th of December. If you've ever entered this wondrous work of art, you'll appreciate the great lines and many works of art scattered throughout the building. It's also a photographer's haven for great angles and sensual lines!
