About Panoramas of People
Most contemporary panorama photos are of landscapes, cityscapes, and vistas. But traditionally, panoramic cameras were also used to photograph large groups of people. This group is dedicated to panoramic images, regardless of how they were created, that have people as the primary or very significant element in the image. Formal or casual, black & white or color, film or digital, stitched or cropped, specialized rotating cameras or simple box cameras...all are welcome if they just meet these very simple requirements...
1. The photo must have two or more people in it (hopefully more) and it cannot be the same person digitally cloned in multiple times. If that's your interest, there are more appropriate groups for that. People should be a primary or very significant element in the image.
2. Horizontal format photos must be at least twice as wide as they are high. Vertical format photos should be at least twice as high as they are wide.
3. Photo must have been created by the group member.
September 2007...update
I made the rules for submission to this group simple and clearcut, because I didn't want to have vague rules and have to use a heavy hand as a moderator. It's been okay, and thus far I've only had to delete two or three photos...I hate having to do that. But I've gotta admit, I'm seeing submitted photos that seem to skirt the purpose of this group, even though they technically meet the posted rules for submission. I intended this group to be for panorama photos that "have people as the primary or very significant element in the image"...and clearly, some of the photos that have a few tiny people that are barely visible somewhere in the image...that is not the intention of this group. Anyway, if you've submitted photos, and you know that they really don't belong here...is it okay to ask that you remove them? I hope so...and thanks.
