About Hindustani Musicians

This group aims to preserve the memory of past musicians of India and Pakistan through a collection of their photographs. If unidentified, it is hoped that someone will recognize the faces and help revive their memory by attaching a name to them. Ultimately our aim is to contribute to the continuity of this living tradition by rescuing ustads, pandits, panditas, baijis, etc. from nameless oblivion, and also to introduce the new faces with names that perhaps will one day also resonate on the stage of Hindustani Music.
Please identify all your photos including, if known, the year and location. Try to make time for tagging your uploads as well, including such information as accompanists and instruments appearing in the shot. Only pictures of practitioners of the art music of India and Pakistan will be accepted.
