About Condensed German-ness

What constitutes German identity? How do people in Germany see their country, how do you see it from abroad, what do you associate with it? What's the deal with Germans anyway? ;)

If you've been to Germany, if you know Germans, if you're a German who has lived or lives abroad, I'm sure you have one fun thing or the other to contribute.

Don't post any nazi stuff here. If you even thought about posting it here, you're most probably wrong here. I don't want to see any pictures of Hitler. He wasn't so funny. Since the whole topic of German identity can easily get out of hand with no fun results, offensive pics may be deleted without warning. There you go.
