About 3di Photo Club, Philippines

From the October 2004 batch of FPPF - Fuji Basic Photography Workshop, the Third Eye (3di) Photo Club was born. Though very diverse in profession, age, and attitude, the love for photography is what bound us, Third Eye people together.

In a short span of two years, the club had the chance to be represented at the Photoworld Manila, meet top photographers in commercial and non-commercial fields; traveled to different places to capture scenes and moments; win in photography competitions; have published works in magazines and in a leading newspaper; had our first exhibit 2 years ago at the resto/art gallery, Likha Diwa in UP with another one in town last October 2006 at the Food and Art Gallery in Makati City and produce promising and upcoming young photographers in the country and abroad.

Any why choose the name “Third Eye” if you may ask when it is usually associated with the paranormal. Seeing things with a third eye is certainly not normal, for it gives you another view of things that you usually see. Our camera IS our third eye, and with it, we see things differently… the sky, a different shade, running waters that seem to be frozen in time, feathers hanging in the wind, different angles of life stores all captured and preserved in a photograph.

The club started with a whole class of forty-one students from the workshop but not all of them have decided to stay, the group now has twenty active members. Though one might view it as elitist with 3di welcoming only five new members every year, the majority agreed to foster a few member as to really cater to each members’ needs: QUALITY vs. Quantity.

In its second year, 3di Photo Club gears up to be more dynamic group in the field, with activities to exercise both our visual and technical skills. As we step closer to our fourth year together, the group will shift into not only an active and visible club, but also as a club with heart… with a social responsibility… using our God given talents in photography to help our marginalized brothers and sisters.

Passion… Dreams… Vision… Heart…
These are the outlines of the success story that this group of vibrant individuals has just started to write.

What will happen to this club? Only time can tell. We just have to learn from the past, work with the present, and optimistically look forward to the future.
