About Autonomous Partial Object, The
The concept is the philosopher Slavoj Zizek's. It refers to the realm of the undead. This group is for objects that "remain alive even after they are dead." These objects have the capacity to take you over and control your actions. Examples he gives are the red shoes in the movie The Red Shoes, the hand that Dr. Strangelove cannot control, and other behaviors that seem to originate from outside of yourself.
