About Roadside Florida
The new highway system built in Florida just after World War II opened the state for mass tourism for the first time in its hitory. Natural springs became havens for mermaids, glass bottom boats, and zoos. Lakes became stages for water skiing human pyramids, and 'gators could be found anywhere. Many of the old attractions remain and are as fun now as they were in the 1940s and 50s. Recent and vintage photos are encouraged.
