About 365 DAYS OF ABSTRACTION

Hello all!

There are a number of groups based on the idea of taking one photograph every single day for 365 days...some allow any kind of photo, some are self-portraits, and so on and so forth. The same idea applies here only the kind of photograph to take for 365 DAYS OF ABSTRACTION would of course be an abstract one. All of these daily photographs would then make up a one year set.

If you are ambitious enough these are the rules:

1. Anyone can join, as long as you stick with it...try not to skip days (sometimes this is unavoidable) for the simple reason that your set will be so much better if you don't. Think of it almost as an abstract diary. Take an abstract photo on your travels for the day...it can signify your emotion that day, or not...it doesn't matter, it's your set. If you want to write an explanation under the photo do, if not don't. :)

2. Play by the rules...the photographs should be abstract, that is the point. Many people have different ideas of what abstract is but here is a general definition that should clarify things a little bit:

ANY ART THAT DOES NOT REPRESENT OBSERVABLE ASPECTS OF NATURE OR TRANSFORMS VISIBLE FORMS INTO A STYLIZED IMAGE.

This is a very broad definition and can be taken the wrong way, if you need assistance ask, or even better, take a look at the group photographs.

note: Images uploaded that are not abstract will be deleted. Group members that consistently upload images that do not conform to group rules will be banned from the group. Images of actual abstract paintings are not allowed - that is cheating! If you find random paint splotches somewhere and take a photo of them, that is ok. Bottom line = use your thinker.

3. The point is to end up with one photo a day to make up a set of 365 images. Don't cheat and use a photo from the day before...take one photo every day and then upload it here.

DO NOT UPLOAD MORE THAN FIVE PHOTOS EACH DAY!!!! YOU SHOULD ONLY UPLOAD ONE EVERYDAY, BUT SOMETIMES GETTING TO A COMPUTER IS IMPOSSIBLE SO YOU MAY UPLOAD FIVE DAYS WORTH OF PHOTOS ON ANY GIVEN DAY...IF YOU MISS UPLOADING FOR MORE THAN FIVE DAYS, SIMPLY UPLOAD UP TO FIVE PHOTOS A DAY FOR HOWEVER MANY DAYS IT TAKES YOU TO CATCH UP.

4. Create a set on your page titled appropriately so that you and other group members can easily find your other 365 DAYS OF ABSTRACTION photos, and/or add a 365 tag to all your photos from the set. A suggested tag is "365abstracts". The point is to create a set of photographs that is best viewed all together. You don't have to do this, but it makes sense!

6. Be creative, be expressive, have fun, and invite all your friends.
