Moleskine prices all over the world

I just got a glance of curiosity: how much do Moleskines cost all over the world?
I, thereby, propose a challenge for this topic: everybody states the cheapest price they have encountered for:
- Pocket Classic Notebooks
- Large Classic Notebooks
The other notebooks' (Sketch, etc.) prices usually revolve around these -- at least that's the impression I get.
Suggested "rules"/guidelines:
- prices in USD ($), EUR(€) and GBP(£). You can use Google to get an approximate conversion; example: convert US$ 5.00 in Euro -- just type the following on Google: 5 USD in EUR
- mention if taxes (like VAT) are included, and what the percentage (e.g.: "€5.00 (21% VAT included)")
- for this matter, let's leave exclusively online shops left out, and refer only to shops that (despite having an online shop) physically exist in the given country and you can go there and buy a Moleskine.

There r no special Moleskine stores here. The one one selling Moleskine is "Papel Craft", a somehow luxury paper store (also small leather goods, wooden photo holders, etc. available).

was on holiday in Southern California this summer and picked up a
Pocket Reporter U$12.75/€10.42/£7.13
&
Van Gogh U$12.95/€10.59/£7.24
didn't buy this at home because it was almost twice as much as in California, so I picked up 2 while on holiday.
tax not included in any of the above prices - total of taxes in Ontario, Canada is 15%
Sorry, don't know what the large Moleskines go for here, I haven't bought one.

They carry all the versions (large and small of ruled, squared, blank, sketch, diary, etcetera), I'll check prices when I go back tomorrow to restock.

In France, the VAT is 5.5% for books and 19.6% on stationery. Sometimes the Moleskine is considered as a book (in big stores, like the Fnac), and sometimes it's sold as a stationery article (in stationery stores).
One good thing about book VAT, it's mandatory. If you ask your bookdealer, you might not pay the 5.5%. Some bookdealers do that automaticaly (or some big stores, like the Fnac), some only do that for regular clients.
I also noticed that some stationary stores and fine arts supplies stores can drop up to 10% from the VAT for special clients (students, ...).
The regular price for a Pocket Moleskine is 11.50€ in France (VAT included) but you can have it for 10.93€. Same for the Large Moleskine, instead of paying 15€ you can buy one for 14.25€... you just have to buy it at a bookstore.

At the moment, in ITALY the situation is this:
- Pocket: € 9,00 / $ 10,80 / £ 6,20
- Large: € 12,00 / $ 14,50 / £ 8,25
Tax are included (and I think amount in 20% of VAT).
This is my two last experience in two different shop in Milan and Near.

I jus tbought my very first Moleskine ever at Books-A-Million (In Georgia, USA) about 15 mintues ago (a ruled notebook). It cost me $14.95 before tax.

This is slightly off topic but I was just at Goodwill off Falls of the Neuse Rd. in Raleigh, NC, and they have 2 brand new in shrinkwrap 2006 Moleskine Planners for $1.98 each.
This is as of today, Thurs, Mar16th 2006.
Sorry that this post applies to only a narrow niche of moleskine lovers, but I hate to see a great bargain slip by. Not a moleskiner myself.

Wow, it seems this topic has been revived -- it's almost 1 year old! :)
Thanks to all who submitted info, I edited the post to acommodate most of it -- criterium was completeness.
Portugal is still the cheapest place to buy Moleskine (but Italy comes close), and Iceland took Brazil's place as the most expensive place (I guess the geographical positioning of Iceland plays an enormous role in that).

@jcraveiro: I was looking through some older posts and spotted this one and decided to submit, didn't realize how old it was! :)
Geographical position has something to do with it I'm sure, although I'm sure greedy bookstore owners is a part of it as well. *sigh*
I ordered some more from mojo.co.uk the other day. Looking forward to seeing how much cheaper that will be. :)

An oldie, but goodie.
Around 2 years ago, pocket notebooks in the USA were $9.99. Now, they vary by store obviously, but are roughly $10-13 for the pocket sized at most stores. I'm actually surprised at these stats... can anyone verify the starting price in the past?
Also, in Iceland, pocket moleskines used to be $28 USD. Brazil, $25 USD. Anyone know where that stands currently?

Note: Many online booksellers (even "brick and mortar" booksellers with online services) will offer either a "members only" or "online only" discount which amounts to the original price of Moleskines. Because of competition, most of the store locations will still honor the original prices through internet price matching or competitor's price matching. What's interesting, though, is that the purchaser actually has to ask for the discount. So, someone still ignorant of the price differences and changes will pay full price. Interesting, because the printing and assembly has been outsourced to China, theoretically allowing for higher volume production and therefore lower, or at least steady, prices.

At my waterstones it was £9.99 for a POCKET.
I was so appalled at the sudden jacking up of prices that I didn't even look at the large.
Borders books is about £8.50, again for a pocket; but my one has a dissappointing selection.
I now by them from the internet, unless in a dire emergancy!
I'm so shopping at Norwich Waterstones!!!!

Ha, well this was the price yesterday as I was in the city, Borders in Norwich doesn't even sell Moleskine and the only other place is Jarrolds which has a small display.
I spent the whole day looking for a Moleskine Diary to no avail.

I was just in Leicester, Waterstone's in the UK and for a large diary it was 14.50 and for a pocket it was 10.99.
I got the pocket but luckily it was half price.

Even though there are not many places selling Moleskines here in Malaysia, the places that do, they offer a very good selection.
Cziplee's Moleskine display is a dream come true for M lovers here in Malaysia!
Tango Mango at The Curve offers a pretty good selection, altho their prices are a few Ringgit higher than Cziplee's prices.
How&Why at Bangsar Village II has a limited selection, and recommends Cziplee as an alternative!
Apparently, there's a shop at Bangsar Shopping Centre that carries some Moleskines. Also a shop at the newly opened MidValley Gardens. The Moleskine Asia site has a good listing of shops in Malaysia carrying Moleskines.
Kinokuniya has a good selection, too, as photos from MyLifeStory's photostream show!

Tango Mango have alot of the "limited" van gogh Moleskines if you are looking for them.
In the UK I paid over 10 british pounds for a POCKET once! I think it just depends where abouts you shop for them.

Belgium (Flanders):
It entirely depends where you get your moleskine.
At Club (and not all Club stores carry them) you pay about € 14 for a small notebook and € 17 for a city notebook. They didn't have any large sized ones or cahiers so I can't say about those.
Proxis.be also sells Moleskines, but at the extortionate price of € 21.95 for a city notebook. When I saw those prices I didn't even bother looking at the others.
There's a few stationary stores in Antwerp (Pen and Pencil is best) that also sell Moleskine (P & P sells the entire range). I believe it's € 11 for a small notebook and about € 15 for a large one, but I'm not a 100% sure and I don't know how much the cahiers are either.
I think it's €15 for the city notebooks.
Usually I buy my Moleskines in Aachen (Germany) because they are cheaper there, but if I need one urgently I will to go Pen & Pencil in Antwerp.

2 years ago, they were around $7-8 here. Now it's more like $12-13 for the pocket size. Local prices are getting out of hand (I know,.. demand rules...). Though, above, people were paying $9.99 for the pocket around 3+ years ago.
