About Rising Sun
In 1972 Tony Evans produced a charming little photo-essay called The English Sunrise which sought to find and photograph the symbol of the sun in English industrial & graphic design. The book was very influential at its time of publication.
This group aims to recreate this collection, but on a global scale, gathering together iconography of the sun on book covers, gramophone needle cans, shop windows, theatre marquees, barber shop signs, house gates, anywhere the sun has not set.
NOTE: This group is only for symbolic representation of the sun. Please do not post pictures of the sun around which the earth orbits, or sun rises. No matter how beautiful, they will be removed.
