About Women of Exception
WHY precisely "Women of Exception"?
flickr celebrates the woman for her beauty more than for her stamina, character, intellect or achievement.
this is a group which brings to the fore "Women of Exception", that is women who did something exceptional, which left a lasting memory: most of them are famous for having become champions in their field of science or sports, or in the world of art and humanities, or politics.
Quite a few were exceptional for their deeds of valour during the war or for having endured slave camps, exile torture or political prisons.
There were also women who became famous for their beauty, the great seductresses who ensnared famous men for their money and power or for fun.
However let us not forget the infamous women, the sanguinarias and the vampire women in history and politics, women who emasculated their adversaries in war and politics with a great relish and a good measure of success.
have you got a portrait and a short biographical note to explain to the unwary WHY your woman is 'exceptional' to deserve our attention?
remeber she may be an "unknown illsutrious", yet sadly neglected by all and resurrected by you.

Oh, by the way this is NOT a feminist group of women by women: both men and women are invited to post - Please also note that lesbianism in itself is not a sufficient measure of "exception", now that it is so common-place and widely accepted; tell us instead about somethimg memorable that stands the scrutiny of time, or remained in the annals of history.
Both heroines of the past and present qualify for entries.
tags are essential and so is descriptive text.
