About Train Stations - the older the better

In the 19th and 20th centuries, a town's train station was the center of commerce as well as the gateway in and out. Many of these old stations remain, in various states of health. Many no longer have anything to do with trains. Sometimes the tracks have been removed, sometimes the station has been moved, but their history as a train station remains clearly visible. Please identify the location and try to include the station name sign in photos. Remember, the focus is on the station, not the train.

Photos NOT appropriate for posting on this group include those where the primary subject is an object inside or around a train station, such as a light fixture, drinking fountain, toilet, stairway, rail, or bench, etc. Photos of trains are allowed only if a station or depot is visible in the shot.

Don't just post and run. Take a look at some of the photographs that other members have posted here. There is an amazing amount of information and history supplied with many of the pictures. And of course, all flickr members appreciate your comments!
