I'm sure someone's already thought to do it, but I just wanted to ask.

Good question! I'm going to be doing this next week or so. We want to get a few more photos up first so that when we do contact the different agencies, we've got enough items to make an impact.

I've talked to someone in the Parks Dept.; I suspect they'll be the most receptive.

I have 311'd all of the problems I have posted to this pool. I'll update when there is any change. I recommend others do the same. It would be interesting to compare how the City responds to different types of complaints, in different neighborhoods.

Dear Ms. E---:

Thank you for your correspondence regarding the NYC 311 Customer Service Center. We are currently working on a project that will allow constituents to send text and picture messages to the call center. Currently, the estimate for the basic features of this project are due to be introduced to the public in early 2008.

If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at 311Correspondence@doitt.nyc.gov.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Leath

Analyst for Community Affairs

wow, that's awesome news! Thanks for writing and passing that on.

Just fyi, I talked to the Parks Dept. about this project and they gave me tips for making street tree photos more helpful... basically, they can't do anything about many of the problems we've photographed, but they CAN fix trees whose trunks have outgrown the space and are getting cut into by concrete or bricks...

Wahoo! A save the trees campaign. ;)

What else should we keep an eye out for. Is there a list of things on the 311 site?
