About 2009 Missions Photo Contest

Show off God’s work through your eyes.
Get out those cameras or go through photos from your mission adventures.

The 2nd Annual Missions Photo Contest is in conjunction with this year's Annual Meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, November 15-16 in Houston.

The theme of this year's contest is Texas Hope 2010 and is based on the Convention's state-wide initiative to share the hope of Christ with every Texan in their own language and context by resurrection Sunday, 2010.

Upload your Texas Hope 2010 photos in the following three categories: Prayer, Care, and Share. Winners will be announced for each category. A little information on each category is below…but above all be creative in how you share God’s work around you.

Prayer – pictures of the action of prayer. Prayer is a powerful tool in accomplishing God’s mandate of spreading the Gospel. Photos in this category can focus on individual prayer, group prayer, prayer walks or even a situation so hopeless it requires prayer.

Care – pictures of care missions in progress. These can be anything from feeding to building to helping with school work to playing games and having fun with people in the name of Christ.

Share – pictures of witnessing and evangelism. This category is to showcase sharing the Hope of Christ to a lost world. Pictures can include aspects of individual evangelism, event evangelism, relational evangelism or any other way you see people sharing Christ’s message of Hope.

Go to Flickr to upload your photos. The deadline for all photo submissions is September 30. The photos must have been taken between November 2008 and September 2009 and only 6 total photo submissions per individual. Each submitted photo must have the accompanying information:

Photographer’s name, phone number and e-mail

Photographer’s church and/or school

Up to 65 words describing the location and setting of the submitted photograph

The Missions Photo Contest is open to anyone who is a member or partner of a BGCT church or institution. More information is coming! Start capturing images now.

Winners will be chosen from each category and will be displayed online as well as at the Annual Meeting in Houston for thousands to see the power of God captured on film…well, electronically probably.

There will be a $500 prize for the best photograph in each of the three categories Prayer, Care, and Share, as well as a $1,000 grand prize for best in show. Submissions need to be related to the Texas Hope 2010 initiative in some way, and prize money will be awarded directly to the Church/Institution of the photographer with the expectation that the winnings be used to do more missions.
