About gargoyles
Based on Christina Ray's Gargoyles project:
"Gargoyles is a photo series that presents a story of urban inhabitants so familiar they’re practically invisible. These characters—glued, taped, painted and stapled into the city on stickers and flyers—compose the silent audience of our daily activities. From their vantage points on lampposts and street signs, these two-dimensional gargoyles witness life on the streets below. Co-existing with the metropolis, they come and go with the weather and the whims of local residents, yet they can appear as lonely, contemptuous, jubilant or protective as the stone-carved gargoyles that are their more permanent neighbors."
