About 24mm (Prime)

Photos taken with a 24mm PRIME lens. NO ZOOM

- Without special effects / filters or over-editing.
- Without cropping, we want to see the full view of the lens.
- Without sticking photos together.
- Without Flickr toys or hideous borders.

24mm is an ideal wide-angle on full-frame cameras that fits a whole lot of scenery with a nice perspective, without looking too dramatically wide. When mounted on a digital aps-c sensor camera the FoV is close to the popular 35mm primes. These actually match the FoV of human sight, and have been around since the beginning of time basically. This change in view occurs due to the crop-factor of 1.5x for Nikon/Sony, and 1.6x for Canon.

Wait, what does Prime really mean anyway ?
" Prime lenses have a single focal length. Meaning you can't zoom in to your subject at all. In fact the view only ever changes when you walk and move around with it yourself. The means you always have a constant FoV (field of view) in your photographs that you will learn to feel and use optimally. Forcing yourself to put thought in the composition, potentially resulting in stronger individual photographs while a series may be considered more pleasing -with the constant angle of view. Having less moving parts in the lens design also increases the potential for premium lens quality. More space is available for comparatively large glass elements, needed for faster apertures. Essential for shooting in darker lighting conditions without the need for high ISO values, or for creating more depth in the image with a shallow DoF (Depth of Field). The space can also be optimized for a compact lens design instead, like a pancake design. Lowering the maximum aperture, but doesn't take away from the lens quality, which is good either way.

Note: A camera like the Fuji Natura Black is allowed. So long as it's 24mm and ONLY 24mm.

For those looking strictly for the 24mm FoV only, I have created the 24mm Equivalent group.

Well, that's all. Thanks for joining our little place on the web. Enjoy it !
