About Southgate, Bath

Southgate*, Bath.

In 1971 almost 5 acres of Georgian and Victorian Bath were cleared to build a modern shopping complex.

36 years later, in 2007, it is being demolished, along with the Ham Gardens Car Park, Bus Station, former Co-Op Dairy building and, most controversially, Churchill House.

The aim of the group is to provide a record of Southgate; before, during and after the re-development of the area.

*The developers Multi, have called the new development 'SouthGate', a term coined since by B&NES Council and the Bath Chronicle.

After a (very!) short debate pool members opted not to change the pool name!
