Hi girls!!
I'm so sorry for being tardy with this. For those of you who don't follow me on Insta, I have been laid up in bed for 8 days now (I seriously want to hurt myself or someone nearby!!) with a combination of a herniated disc and a cold/respiratory infection. Seriously--who catches a cold while on bedrest? Me apparently.

I am on the road to mending but am behind on everything in the meantime.

So--I have decided I want the Roman Cross block, called the Classic CrossPatch Block in the new Vintage Quilt Revival book.

I love how changing the colors up makes it look woven (similar to the quilt we made for Whitney last year) :) In fact, I almost picked a similar color scheme but decided to be different.

So...I'm thinking about these colors:

to end up with something like this:

I want to use the tutorial from the book, so if you don't have it, please let me know and I will email you the templates & instructions directly.

Sorry to be less than prepared this month--I kinda changed my mind last minute--all that time lying in bed gave me plenty of time to think. :)

As for colorings--I'm incredibly visual so here's a rundown for someone else like me:
A1--lighter blue
A2 & A3--darker salmon/pinky color
A4--yellow
B1-lighter blue
B2 & B3--darker salmon/pinky color
B4-Yellow
B5&B6--darker blue/gray color

Then the center 9-patch is made of lighter salmon/pink/orange and the lighter blue.

Make sense??

Beautiful color scheme! I won't be able to tackle your blocks for at least a week (work travel) so I'll get to them soon. Excited to try something new!

I hope you get to feeling better! I'd say stay rested, but, well, you're already doing that! Warm thoughts for a speedy recovery!

So sorry you haven't been feeling well!! Nice block. I see blue in the sample quilt but not in your palette - ? But I'm sure your sample block will clear things up. Take care!!

Hope you feel better soon! Love your color palette! Will be working on these next week hopefully.

Ooh, I like it! Those colors are great and it looks like a fun block! I didn't know you had a cold on top of everything else! January was just not your month, was it? Hoping February is much kinder to you! I'll probably get started on your blocks this afternoon. I've been in a sewing slump the past week but this will definitely help!

Thanks girls!!

As far as the palette goes Debbie--I had about 5 minutes to play in EQ yesterday, so I'm wanting that light sky-blueish-gray from the top of the palette to be the long pieces, but didn't feel like searching exactly for it yesterday. ;)

My thought was kind of summer days--sunwashed colors, not quite pastels but not in your face, so sky blue/gray/icy blues whatever. And for that bottom blue/gray color I'm okay with anything from a dark icy blue to kona coal--whatever gives that feel. Same with the pinks--they are salmon in the palette, but a pink that reads sorta like that is totally cool and probably what I'll use to make mine. If it's close to the palette and reads summery than I'm cool with it.

Roman Cross Sample Block for #ThatStashBee by Kelli W

Here's my sample. Feel free to be a little more selective in your fabric choices. I literally grabbed the first fabrics I could find in these colors. :) haha And actually I kind like it, so really think summer, think fun, and hopefully these will be fun to make.

This is going to be such a cool quilt, Kelli! I don't have the book yet so I'll need those templates, please. And you are fun and summery so this quilt seems like a good fit! ;)

I don't have the book either, Kelly... Can you send templates to me, too please?

Samesies. I don't have the book either. The block looks like a fun one to tackle. I am excited to sift through my stash and find the perfect prints.

oooh Pretty, Kelli! I don't have the book.... or really any book since 1980 ( I only end up with hand-me-downs).

Sounds good! I don't have the book so feel free to send the info. Thanks! I look forward to working on the blocks.
Kelli, is the block in EQ?

Wow y'all! I'm sorry to choose something most of you didn't have. It's so weird for me to actually buy a quilting book that I guess I just assumed if I had it, everyone must! haha

I've emailed everyone I think.

I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but when I made my blocks today I used these dimensions to cut my fabric before I sewed:

A1 & B1= 2.75" x 4"
A2, A3, B2, & B3= 4" square cut diagonally
A4 & B4= 2.75" x 7.5"
B5 & B6= 3.5" square cut diagonally

The block also went together much quicker than I thought they would! Kelli is going to have a really fun quilt!

i will get on it this weekend! fun!

Thank you Toni! I usually do that too, but when I made mine the other day I literally just grabbed and sewed and trimmed without paying any attention to sizes. This block really came together quickly for me too, so hopefully y'all won't have any trouble with it. :)

Okay, this was a super fun block to make and I will be popping them in the mail tomorrow. No printing issues! Phew!

Hey Kelli- what are the dimensions of the pieces in the middle? I just can't get the hang if this block. :)
fishcreekstudio 5 years ago
The squares are 2 3/4in and the rectangle is
2 3/4 in x 7 1/4 in. I found it in Kelli's email when I went to make mine :) Hope this helps.

I received blocks from Cathy, Debbie and Katie! Thanks y'all!!! And Ginny thanks for answering Whitney. We've been at the state tournament with Chris' basketball team. :)
