About 2009 Days of Remembrance -- Never Again: What You Do Matters
The United States Congress established the Days of Remembrance as our nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust and created the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a permanent living memorial to the victims. This year Holocaust Remembrance Day is Tuesday, April 21. The Museum has designated Never Again: What You Do Matters as the theme for the 2009 observance.
What are you doing this year to commemorate the Holocaust? Are you attending or planning an event with your family or in your local community? Are you studying or educating people about the Holocaust? Are you helping to meet the challenge of genocide today? Are you spreading the word about threats of genocide by sharing information with your friends or the public? Whether you plan a public event, light a candle in your home, or share current news on Twitter, what you do matters.
Use this group to post pictures from events you participate in, of your reflections about these events, or about this year’s theme and about what you are doing to prevent genocide. The Museum will upload photos of the commemoration ceremony held in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Holocaust Remembrance Day, April 21. Together, we can gather a collection of photographs that represents the variety of ways people honor Holocaust victims and advocate against genocide.
For suggestions on how to honor the victims of the Holocaust during this year’s Days of Remembrance, please see the Museum’s Web site. You can also support the Museum’s mission by:
