Very fun and cool evening with nice and friendly people !

I won't put there another pic of the Guru, as they are already to much of this crazy man !! ;-)

One of the good things, or the bad things, about being married, is that you have two families.

So yesterday it was our "second" Xmas with my parents. The evening went fine to really great when we found a very old and rare wine. A Chateau Climens (Sauternes) from 1982, 25 years old !

It was a little miracle, excellent, wonderful, sweet, gold for the eyes, the mouth and the heart !

We spend the day just trying to do nothing, very lazy, recovering from a very "hard" week .
At some point we decided that we were still too tired to prepare anything for dinner, so we choose the "we buy some pizzas" option.

Very strangely, my wife propose to get out to get the pizzas, rare situation as usually external food to bring back is for me. I didn't noticed more than that and got back in front of the computer.

When she came back with the dinner, she also came back with that new top, as she stopped in every clothes stores on the way !
When a woman propose to get out to do something you normally do, don't trust her !

08 Jan 2007 :

Today, first day of the week, and a hard day, it's was good to keep the camera at home as I wouldn't had any time to use it during the day.

I grabbed two photo books and sat close to my son while he was playing, relaxing myself and learning and searching for inspiration.

The books are "Belles de nuit" from Larcher and the big one is "the life of a photographer" of Annie Leibovitz.

The Larcher is very cool, nudes and portraits, but in the kind of BW photography that I like, very contrasted, everything in there is very black or very white, nothing in between.

The Leibovitz is a monument, everything of her since 15 years, commercial and personal shots, it is incredible. That's very strange to discover that a person like her, after all those years is still just like you and me taking picture of her family, apartment ...
I fell in love with that book (I got it as a Xmas present, thx Marie) and I was really touched by her words when she explains (against all odds) that she just can't drive a portrait session, that she don't like that, and that she only wants to stood there, waiting for the moment to happen, the magic to happen, and then shoot...
Have a look at it if you can one day...

Anyway, here they are as you can't shoot anything else after seeing them :

Regular work day, until we left the office for a very short London trip, two days. As we arrived in advance to catch the 19h30 EuroStar, we went to the Lounge (Lameche and me) and had a few beers while waiting for the train.

As we have early meeting the next day when arriving in London we went straight to the hotel, meet the Boss for a few more beers and off to bed !

On the week ends, and specially the Sunday, I spend a fair amount of time outside, whether it's sunny or raining, cold or warm, because I smoke, and I smoke outside.

It's a very old decision, not to smoke at home, nothing to do with the recent laws in France. Let's say that I train myself to smoke outside to be ready !!

It will be fun in certain areas when there will be more people outside the bars with their drink than inside the bars !

;-)

Anyway, at home, I've got my own private smoking area outside, with my own private very "nice" ash tray :

A regular day of work, as everyday, followed by a very nice evening !
A friend and former colleague came to Paris for just one day, so we decided with other co-workers and friends from the office to have an un-organized night out.

It began with a small "apéritif" just downstairs, at the usual place, where we just had a "few" beers...

Then off to Roger's restaurant in Puteaux (if you're around you must go there, mail me I'll give you the address and come with you), where we had more "apéritifs", nice wine, great food (everything "foie gras" based).

Of course, as we often go there, we did finished with the famous "Vieille Prune de Souillac" (it's Plum but brown, done with Cognac methods). Severals.

I won't speak about the way I felt this morning and all day, enough for me to say that this photo was taken far before we leave the restaurant and stop asking for more "Prune" :

The 19th was a between men evening, i left the office without going to the usual Friday Beer because my wife was going to the movies. We're often doing that, as someone needs to stay home with our son, so most and most of the adult evenings we're doing are done without the other.

Friday off that was, and that was a good idea, even if i needed to get off bed to drive my son at school, this way I had all morning for various house tasks and to recover slowly from the FlickR@Paris evening.

I then had lunch with a very nice and passionate French teacher during her break and after driving her back to school, maybe inspired by our discussions I switched the keyboard on and made some music before the rest of the family gets back home.

That was something I didn't do since a long time, and that was good.

Missed a day, seems to be usual, but still, I'm here !

There is something you need to know about me. When I work and I get up early from bed, there is nothing you can do with me (well, except one but I can't tell here...), specially talk to me, until I had a huge amount of coffee.

I usually fill this, and sit down in front of the computer, and stay there slowly recovering my mind, until I've finished the whole of it !

After that, and only after, I can have a normal day. But beware, never disturb me while I'm having this first vital coffee !

Still in the Kitchen for this one.

Absolutely everywhere in the house are super-heroes !
That's here I see my son is really acting like me, he is a huge super-heroes fan. There is tons of them, in various shapes (those ones below don't have legs !), everywhere and not only in his bedroom.

There are some Superman, some GreenLantern, Fab4, Xmen... But the preferred ones are Batman and Spidey !

01 Feb 2007 :

Been to London. That was not the plan, a late meeting was organized at the very last time for the very secret project "007" (don't search here it's a private joke you wouldn't understand ;-).

So I asked for tickets, and received as usual an email from the travel agency that I didn't read, been used to receive electronic tickets. Just printed it and stick it in my pocket.

Then now I'm in Gare du Nord, it's 8.15, trying to speed up to catch an earlier train and I got a phone call from the lovely T. from our office, basically saying "what's the matter ? I've got your tickets on my desk ? ...".

God ! I look at my electronic ticket to realize it's not, it's just an email confirmation, the fucking agency just changed the way they used to work with us... Too late to go back to get the real tickets so I go to the Eurostar desk to see if I can still get this train, and the guy says "yes of course, I'm going to make you a duplicate, it's a business ticket, no problem, the only thing is that I'm going to charge you 24 euros for that.".

Fuck ! 24 euros for printing a ticket ! Anyway I need to go, so...

I was so broken and so speed, I didn't take my camera to London, the meeting was alright, and I got back to Paris just after. I slept most of the time, on the way to and on the way back.

Another fast day gone.

Woke up at 5am with the cat jumping on my back. Just the time to kick him away and I fell asleep again. I wake up broken for the rest of the day.

A lazy morning while she is away, played with sunglasses, the window light, an attempt at self portrait. It gave me an idea of a set.

In the afternoon tried with a friend to re-install his PC with a WinXP on fucking SATA raid disk without any success, as XP don't even see the drives... Will have to figure that out during the week. I hate when a machine wins the game...

Traffic Jam

I'm thinking too much.

I spend too much time in my car in the Traffic Jam. 3 hours per day at least listening to the same radio shows and the same music.
You can't help it. I can't. At some point my mind just goes: work, love, friends, sex, photo, music, dreams... It fixes itself on a subject and then calculates all possibilities from past to present, present to future, "do this, do that, what if, should have, remember, tell her ...". Think. Think. Think.

I get tired of that because it leads nowhere, except frustration, because everything new coming to you, well, you already think about it. That's why I really love unpredicted moments, real ones.
I really need to "do" now if only I was not so lazy or so afraid (depend on the subject).

And I'm still stuck in this traffic jam, and still one hour to go...

Je pense que tes deux postes dernier posts sont liés. C'est le bonheur de l'innocence ? Ou est-ce les tracas qui nous enlève cette spontanéité ?
