About Portrait Society Photo Book Project
**** Adding photos to this group has no bearing on what is or is not in your book, just a place to share your progress and tease people. ****
This group is dedicated to the upcoming Photo Book exhibit that will be on display at The Portrait Society Gallery in Milwaukee, WI in 2012. portraitsocietygallery.wordpress.com/
Information:
Portrait Society is pleased to announce BS @ PS: A Photo Book Project. Current and former Wisconsin residents are invited to submit photo-based books to this competition and exhibition. The deadline is January 31 for entries. The exhibition will be held in March and April 2012.
Now is the time to decide what kind of a book you’ve been longing to make and pull some of those photo files together thematically so your project can be part of this major exhibition. Amateurs and professionals alike are encouraged to participate. The entry fee is $30.
All books must be created during 2011/2012 and should be photo based and self published through sites such as Lulu or Blurb. No size requirements.
Workshops will be held in upcoming months to discuss the project and offer instructions regarding the editing and creation of on-line books. The first workshop will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, led by Milwaukee photographer Paul Matzner who recently self-published, “New York City Moments.”
After all submissions are received, a group of judges will select finalists for cash prizes and special presentations of their work. All of the books, however, will be included in the exhibition at Portrait Society and will be for sale.
Categories for entries include The Contemporary Portrait, Documentary, Travel, Fine Art and Found/Vintage/Compilation. More information about these categories as well as detailed entry specifications is available on the project blog (add link here).
This project is being coordinated by Erik Ljung and Portrait Society Gallery. Please call 414-870-9930 for additional information. Portrait Society Gallery is located at 207 E.
