About Reading Fairgrounds

This is a tribute to one of the best racetracks to have existed. It was in Reading, PA and ran from 1924 to 1979. It featured mainly modified stock cars but there were also special shows, sprints, midgets, etc. The fairgrounds was slated to close after the 1978 in order to build a mall. A stay in the courts rsulted in a reprieve. An abbreviated 1979 season was run and the last race was on June 29, 1979. Dave Kelly was the last feature winner. The track has been replaced by the Fairgrounds Square Mall and we're still not buying.
