Sphingidae is the family of moths commonly known as Sphinx, Hawk or Hummingbird moths. Some are diurnal and most feed like hummingbirds while hovering in front of flowers hence the name. They are fast heavy bodied moths.

If you love these types of moths please join. All are welcome and the rules here are fairly lax. Please include descriptions and locations of where you took your pictures when possible. Types of subjects allowed:

Butterfly gardens where these moths come to your garden to visit.
All stages including egg, larva, pupa and adult
Raising moths. If you raise these from caterpillars for later release we'd love to hear your insights on it.
Artwork of sphinx moths including drawings or figures of moths like ceramics
