2000 views + 80 faves?
 |
I OK'd the creation of 3,000 views and 120 faves, by someone else. . but it's NOT part of this "franchise". I completely agree with you , this can go too far.
I was quite satisfied with the 1,500 views and 60 faves as an extreemely high benchmark. There are currently fewer than 500 photos and 200 members in this group after 7 months.
This series ENDS with this group, as far as I'm concerned. And I agree, there are WAY too many senseless groups out there with
25 views
etc.
That's why I've kept it to FOUR groups that I think are significant in terms of achievement. This series of groups features pics that have BOTH quality (faves) and quantity (views):
250views and 10faves/ (only for people with fewer than 25 shots in the Explore pages)
500 views + 20 faves group
1,000 views + 40 faves group.. and lastly
THIS group: 1500 views and 60 faves

What do you think the achievment is?
I have my thoughts on it, and I can definitely see that this group has a much higher quality to quantity ratio than most other View/Fav groups.

I'm slow in responding (to say the least), but here it is.
I really dislike most of the so-called "award" groups. Where people give each other little trophy icons, and practically useless comments.
flickr has three built-in ways of reflecting the popularity of a photo
1) faves
2) views
3) comments (which is the only one that can be easily manipulated by the photo owner/photographer.)
And though popularity does not equate to quality necessarily, I would match the photos in these Quality AND Quantity groups with any selection of photos in the EXPLORE pages.
And yes, some people have the time and take the effort to maximize the views and faves on their photos by their own views, faves, and comments on the photos of others. Oh, well.
If it's that important to them to work that hard at it, I can hardly complain.
I would contend, though, that this series of groups comes as close as any to really finding and collecting some of the best photos on flickr.
