Thanks Kevin for a really good suggestion. It's not going to be difficult to remember the dates though, it will be everyday (except the new weekend fun which is soon to be starting ;). All you have to do then is remember the time or set a reminder.
Will have a look at this though, sounds like it could be handy :)

i like that idea too, where everything looks laid out on a calendar ahead of time. good idea kevin!

cool! ok, seems to be lots of interest for 8-8-08. so we shall leave that day to be a theme for "8" instead of a time??? or do u think we should do BOTH?? time and theme? that's gonna be harder to find to photograph though!

That 8-8-8 idea is brilliant!
What about special dates through out the year too? Valentines, christmas, easter etc. I know these are typically British so maybe you can introduce festivals and celebrations which are relevant to your country. For example my parents in France have a huge celebration for Bastille Day. If someone suggested that date we could then post typically french things such as baguettes and wine?!?! Let us know your celebration, what it invovles and what it means to you and we can get inventive with our cameras! (phones, pin holes and whatever we have to hand!)

Japan is full of such festivals, and I think pretty much every day is a festival somewhere in the country. Coming up we have Obon, which is all about welcoming back spirits of the dead, so we should probably focus on really creepy pictures of graveyards and if at all possible, ghosts.

How about a weekly task that I’m sure we could learn something you find a photo or member suggest to you a photo that we all can have a go at replicating in our own way.
If anyone doesn’t know how to do it we can share our knowledge and instruct them how to do it, you don’t have to reproduce the same photo but use a similar idea.

So "zackojones" and I were at work (on our break of course :-) ) and started throwing around some ideas we thought would be cool for the group to do for SATW, Weekend Globals and maybe even FFF. Hopefully some of these would be challenging and get folks to step outside their comfort zone. Well some of us anyway! For admin/moderator/group consideration!
Take a picture of:
o something(s) that describes your personality.
o Something you’ve owned the longest
o Something that stirs up a memory (good, bad, indifferent)
o a stranger (There is a group for this as well!)
o Something that symbolizes where you live. A plant or tree indicative to the area, a favorite/famous cuisine, landmark, etc.)
o what you drive and/or what you’d like to drive.
o an abstract part of your house or office building.
o something as a Fast speed shot
o something Slow speed shot
o B&W photo
o Altered photo (restored, Photoshopped, post-filters, etc.). Show orig and altered image.
o Cool architecture shot
o Pet shot – yours or someone elses
o Inspirational shot – moderator/admin posts an image. Group takes shot based on inspiration derived from posted pic.
o Group admin/mod chooses a letter and group photographs something beginning with that letter (food or otherwise)
o Group admin/mod picks a Number and group shoots a picture of something containing that number/representative of the number

i've actually got a list of things (something more abstract) for SATW but i've been holding back cos i want to ease the group into it so we get more participants.
these are great suggestions and i'll definitely go through it for next week's SATW.
