About Perigord Summer, Un Eté en Périgord
"Perigord Summer" is the title I gave a little book I wrote, back in 1995, with young holiday-makers in mind. I wanted to share what I had learnt of the culture and history of the lovely area which was now our home. The story grew organically from a first visit to Cercles Church, where we were amazed by the number and variety of Green Men on the capitals.
The book was illustrated by a local artist, Nancy B Roberts, who soon became a friend.
Fifteen years on, we now live in the near by village of Montagrier, so I have added some pictures of this historic village to those from Cercles. The English edition of my book sold out within the year, but I still have a few copies of the French edition, "Un Eté en Périgord" for sale.
