Wow!
Firstly, I´d like to express how happy am I of getting a Third Place. Being so close to Masters Diment and Baldwin is an enormous honor for me. The Brickarms ain´t bad either!
Secondly, thanks again for what is, at least in my opinion, the nicest anual contest in the LEGO community. I really had a fun time here!

I'm honored to have won second out of all the amazing entries!
Beating Aaron is not something I pictured happening seeing his awesome Bergepanther.
Lastly, Thanks to all the judges and contestants for making it such a great contest.

A big Thanks, and congrats to everyone: judges, prize contributers, all the great builders, and to the little Danish company that rocks my world!

Great round-up guys! I definitely agree with all the choices for awards, there was some excellent building for this competiton which I enjoyed seeing!
Thank you for the third place, the FP was a very hotly contested category and many others could have also won! Also, thanks for the "cadet" award, I think it's a great idea to have a best newcomer (if that's what it is) award! (Although I would say that, wouldn't I)!
Anyway, great competition! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks a bunch for running yet another successful contest. Its funny to think that just 3 years ago I created a flickr account just to enter the Lego military contest. Heres to hopefully many more for years to come.

Cheers guys. I'm quite delighted that my two creations placed.
Thank you so much for running the competition. Having run a couple of smaller-scale contests over in the Steampunk group, I know how much work organising and judging these things are - it is much appreciated.

I think that the decision for 3rd place for the combined arms dio was awful, but it was still a good contest.

Another excellent contest! Congrats to everyone (particularly LegoMonster), and a huge thank you to the judges/organizers/admins.
Would it be possible to get a post contest wrap-up like last year? I'd be interested to hear the judges comments, especially in my category.
it's generally considered pretty bad manners to denigrate a winner in the thread announcing their victory.

Wow... I am incredibly honored to have placed in a field that was probably (IMO) That had the most varied and awsome creations. Congrats to all the other people who placed and thanks to all the judges who dedicated there time to this amazing contest.
I do have one question though, was the FP catagory always gonna be split up into two sections? Or was it a decision made later?

Thanks everyone who particpated. The judges will post their comments in the near future. We wanted to get the announcement out ASAP so I can start getting the prizes ready.
Thanks to everyone who has flickrmailed me, I will respond to emails tomorrow or Monday. I hope to get prizes in the mail by late June.

Wow! It's amazing to place up with Mainman's incredible FP MOC, and I was really impressed with the smaller-scale entries, too (especially Atin's; great photography!). Although military isn't exactly new for me, this competition really got my creative juices flowing, so kudos to Magnus and Mad Physicist for putting on such an awesome contest. A lot of the MOC entries slipped by me, so I'll be sure to check those out, too!

Congratulations! I've got a question for the judges, since I've never been in this before, I'm not sure when the next one is, is it the same time next year?

Thanks a lot, judges! This was certainly a fun one to build for. I have but one complaint: I'm now addicted to building military aircraft, and my space WIPs are feeling left out. :)

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Competitions like this seem to bring out some of the best builds, and I'm glad to see so many military building veterans and newbies alike join in the fun. There were definitely entries that didn't win that I thought should have placed, but the judging system we used allowed us to wrap this up much more quickly (and likely with more internal harmony) than we could have otherwise.
I'd like to take a second to thank my fellow judges. Jas was judging for his third year running now, and provided some excellent graphics for us. Ralph and Chandler both joined as Admins at the old group, and have been very active in the last year as community leaders. It was great to have them on board for the competition this year.
I will get in touch with Will Chapman later this coming week with picks for BA items and ,assuming the LEGO sets arrive from Steve by then, I plan on sending the prizes out as soon as they arrive.

Nah, I was just in a cynical mood, and I was kidding... Whenever I kid when I'm cynical mood I usually offend someone. So, I'm sorry 'bout that.

but , I guess if I was a judge I could do what I wanted, too.

Nobody ever said there were definitely going to be prizes for all the other categories either. In fact, I was very clear that we might limit ourselves to prizes only for the first place in each category. Compared to that you can consider a 2nd prize for vignettes a bonus! Chandler had reasons why he felt there shouldn't be 3rd prizes in those categories and the rest of the judges accepted those.

MONTHLY!?
Fortunately we have very generous sponsors, but we'll be paying for much of the shipping for the prizes (all over the world) out of our own pockets and running the whole thing takes a lot of time. This is not something any of us can or want to do on a monthly basis. What Chandler and I have been doing in the last year or so, and will continue in the next months is running bi-monthly build challenges. There are no prizes or judges. It's just for fun. We'll post an announcement about the next one in a few weeks time.
There was a flickr LEGO military build contest in 2008, 2009. This year's was the third. We'll likely have one again around the same time next year.

I won't respond to everyone individually, by Flickrmail, but thanks for getting your addresses and BA preferences in so quickly! BrickArms and the other remaining prizes have already requested, and are being shipped to me.
I plan to get stuff sent out to people in the US and Canada next week. I will be going on vacation to Europe in late June and if I have space in my baggage I may bring the European prizes with me so I can send them from Norway and save a little on postage.
