I would like to stick to 4-letter words. Pray and Play are ok, but not bless or laugh. Thanks!

We have a snow day tomorrow... So I'm going to make your blocks. Just to be sure -- wonky is OK, right? as long as the rectangle is precise before the borders go on and then precise again when trimmed?
(I'm pretty sure it is, because that's how Lazy Gal does hers, but I just wanted to be sure before I got in there and used up your fabrics. I'm happy to measure and be precise if that's what you want. I'm hoping it's not what you want, though -- LOL!!)

Wonky is totally fine for the letters. But - no applique, please. Forgot to specify that!

I've gotten "Jump" almost done (working on the borders now) but I will not have enough of the white to finish "Wish." I'll get the letters done as much as I can (I'll start with W and S since they're the most obnoxious to make) and I'll make the borders, but I definitely won't have enough to finish the block. I scrimped as much as I could (the largest scrap of white that went into the trash was 3/4" x 1"), but I just don't think I'll be able to make both blocks. :(
edited to add that I won't have enough to make the borders for the second block either. I'll do as much as I can.

That's totally fine - it was hard to estimate how much to send.
Not sure if it will help, but feel free to add your own stuff that is in the same colors.

Meredith,
I don't have enough background, but I have Kona snow that looks to be an exact match. Since it is your quilt, I am waiting on your go ahead. I think that I have enough border. :0)
Blessings,
KT

OK, friends. I need your help. I am majorly putting off doing this block and I finally realized it is because I am afraid of majorly messing up. So....does anyone have any tips that helped them complete their block? I read the tutorial (quiltville) way back when, but when I went to look at it again, the link didn't work.

Totally not much good at wonky, so I had to do a test block to be sure that I liked it first. It really helped with sizing issues ( mine wanted to be too big). It was fun to get out of my zone and try something new!! Remember to have fun!!

I was stressed about them too- what got me over the hump was doing the math and drawing pictures. I figured out how wide and tall each letter needed to be to fit the size she wanted and then drew out how each letter should be laid out and sit next to its neighbor. I probably spent more time doing all that math and doodling but it was enough for me to feel comfortable to jump in and get started- once I got started, I was on a roll and it just came easy. Break our the paper and pencil and that should help calm the fear a little.

Thanks so much, gals. I had a snow day from school today and I did exactly what Osa Penny did. I actually got both my words done with not much white left, but they are done!! :) Took most of the day, but hurrah! Now to finish the outer edge. :)

Meredith, I got the "hope' block finished with the border, but don't have enough of the border fabric to finish the "give" block. I will take a picture in the morning (if I don't have school), post it and get them in the mail to you. Sorry it took me the entire month!!! :)
Added: They are all packaged up and ready to go with my hubby to the post office! Hugs!

Sorry everyone - just saw all of these messages. Please don't stress about it! Just have fun. And Penny is right - drawing them out first makes it much easier!
Also, Vickie - don't worry about the border - I'll finish it here.
