Aus dem Dorf wird eine Stadt: 1191 werden neben dem Pfarrer auch Kaufleute erwähnt, um 1204 besitzt man einen Galgen, Merkmal der hohen Gerichtsbarkeit, um 1231 endlich wird Tübingen als civitas, also als Ort mit Stadt- und Bürgerrecht, bezeichnet.
