About US Highway 1: Maine to Florida

Route 1 runs along the east seaboard of the United States. It begins at the Canadian border in Fort Kent, Maine, then wanders southeast until it reaches and the Maine coast. It follows the coast through Maine; crosses over to New Hampshire, then Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Originally it ended in Miami, but in 1938, it was extended becoming the spectacular Overseas Highway through the Keys, terminating in Key West.
U.S. 1 runs through some of the most beautiful and ugly scenery in America, as well as some notable roadside attractions. This group welcomes photographs of all kinds of anything and anyone you caught along the way.
