IMPACT
= What is the Impact of a photo? What does Impact mean?
= IMPACT is what we're dealing with here in One Word Comment.
= The impact a photo has on you is how it makes you feel, what it makes you think of, the mood it evokes.
Examples: innocence, joy, sadness, love, sexiness, trust, tranquility... fear, surprise, turmoil, anger, cynicism, etc., etc.
The iMPACT of a photo is generally considered the most significant thing about it.

IF SOMEONE DOESN'T COMMENT "Did Not Comment" (dnc) Icon
If you find someone that submitted without commenting, place the following code on their photo.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/one_word_comment"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/6409397077_c8d008edc1_o.png" width="105" height="103" alt="flickr One Word Comment Icon dnc" /></a>
It will look like this:
If You See This Icon on Someone's Photo
- Don't give it your one word comment. Skip it and give your one-word-comment to an extra photo on the end.
- You may place another one of these did-not-comment icons on it if you find they still did not meet their one-word-comment obligation.
If You Get This Icon On Your Photo
Immediately fullfil your comment obligation, then contact the person who placed the icon on your photo, and an admin, via flickrmail. Advise them you commented, and request clearance to remove the dnc icon. Removal of that icon without commenting will likely get you banned. Late commenters forfeit the right to request make-up comments and may not use the Missing Comment Thread for that photo.
COMPETITION WINNERS
Competition #23 Winner: Black and White
Competition #22: PEOPLE Winner
=== Fancy Group Comment Code === for advanced users who understand HTML ===
<b><u>... _- = =- _ ...</u></b>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/one_word_comment/"><b>the *ONE Word Comment* group </b></a>
=== Only use this if you understand where to place your word (between the "=" signs)===
FINE POINTS
1. If you feel one word is inadequate, you may give more words. But present each word individually, as opposed to part of a phrase or sentence. If you feel moved to write a more elaborate comment, go ahead. Just separate it from your "one-word" comment. .
2. It is recommended you don't peek at what others have written before you, until after you've made your comment. Allow yourself to feel the impact of the photo as if affects you, unencumbered by what other people thought. If it turns out a previous commenter used the same word as you, that's OK. It just means they felt similarly about the photo as you did. Just let it be because you were influenced by the photo that way, not by what they said.
3. Always use the official group code when you want to comment as a member of this group. If you don't use our group code, your comment is yours but not ours. Our sweeper will not recognize it. You will be considered to have not commented for the purposes of the group.
4. For maximum impact, and your greatest viewing pleasure, we suggest you view photos with the Slideshow (ensure Embiggen off) or in Lightbox view.
5. If you want more one-word comments, you may resubmit your photo, but only after it has left the first row of the front page.
