I'm new to this group so I"m not sure how much my opinion counts but I'm in agreement. I may be wrong but I think the point behind this group is to get people out shooting and push them to think on their feet and get interesting shots within a short timeframe. With a set day, if people miss that day they might not get out that month to shoot and just say "well I'll wait until the next month's challenge".
I'm anxious to see what the group decides because I missed the Oct 7th shoot because of a job so if the majority of people are in favour then maybe I can still make it in for the Oct Challenge.

I agree, the strict timetable never really worked for me the first few months and so I kind of forgot about the group... but if I can pick any 2 hours then that would be great. Then it's good incentive to get out there with the 120 cameras, which I've been neglecting.

I think it's a good idea. Stuff always comes up and it can be hard to do it on the assigned day. The weather can be a problem too, of course, and a little rain isn't so bad but once it was sleeting, which was bad and made it impossible.
I think changing the rules will increase participation, too.

Well when I started the group, part of the apeal was the fact that there was a time restriction ( 2 Hours) and that everyone was shooting the same day.
Logistically, everyone shooting the same day isn't as logical anymore, with such a bigger group. I know my lack of participation, has mainly been due to the fact that the first saturday wasn't always convenient.
Another option of course would be to set the rule... Must be shot between the 1st and the 15th of every month.

I was thinking along those lines too because that way there is still some restriction as far as time and then the last two weeks can be used to view/comment/critique other members entries. Btw I came across your website (photojunkie.ca) a few weeks back and just realized now that it was yours, good work man!

I like this, but simply because I've worked every Saturday (and will be probably) from here to eternity.
How about if we made it a week? Or the 1st to 15th is a good idea too. Not quite a month, I think a week or two would be good.

So what does everybody think? It'd be awesome if we could figure this out before the 4th because I'll be working that day and I want to participate this month!

Well, I'm still for the "first week of the month".
I hope all interest hasn't died out for this topic.

I love the idea of "first week of the month"!
Too often I get busy and forget the first Saturday, I'm out of town, weather is crappy, or I'm just not inspired that day...
I did shoot my January set and just dropped it off for processing this morning :-)

Hey, if you change the rule I might actually be able to submit someday soon. My timing sucks when it comes to that particular Saturday for some unknown cosmic reason.

How about the first weekend of the month? Rather than a whole week? You pick a Saturday or a Sunday and then choose your two hours and go.
I work every Saturday myself so I know this would definitely benefit me, and it'd be great if we could get this going in time again for March which is coming up on us soon.

I always miss out on the day, so it'd be good for me to open up the actual shot time to accommodate my schedule!
