About HotDish Quilts & Fiber Arts
HotDish. If you're from the upper midwest, you'll recognize this term for creative down home comfort food. A little bit of this, some of that - the leftover vegetables form last night's dinner, and you've created a recognizable, but often unique culinary delight.
You've maybe used name brand named canned corn, but you could have gotten by with generic. Even if you'd used name brand corn, you'd keep it to yourself. People will notice on their own that you've selected quality ingredients.
This pool will contain quilts and fiber related items that don't need to boast about their brand named ingredients. Look to HotDish for items that may indeed have brand maned products in the final result, but they have been uniquely combined with other other ingredients, for an additional bit of a flavor.
While recognizing the fact that there are many amazing fabric/quilt designers out there, this group will honor folks who forge ahead in their own creativity. Mixing and matching to create our own signature "dishes."
* "Dishes" may be modern or traditional
@ "Dishes" will incorporate a bit of individual "spice."
# While "Dishes" may include designer fabric, or be constructed by another's pattern, "HotDish" items will contain a twist of the maker's creativity as well.
^ "HotDishes" will rarely be constructed by the use of a single source of ingredients. Variety is the spice for "HotDishes!" if you require a red fabric for your design, and a certain designer has created the perfect red, by all means use that red with other fabrics as well. MIX & MATCH! You CAN do it!
% "HotDish" items can honor other designers in the tags, but will honor their own design and creativity in the descriptions.
@ If you have created something using all designer fabrics, and someone else's pattern, this isn't the spot for it.
