About Brick VA

Brick VISUAL ASSESSMENT (Critique/Feedback for you old-schoolers)

Many builders here on Flickr post their models simply to share their creations and stay in contact with the community... which is why short solidarity comments like 'nice' or 'sweet' are fitting. But I've also noticed quite a few builders seriously seeking the more detailed guidance needed to improve... and a 'good job' won't suffice. Still others are simply curious about what fellow builders might have changed or done differently to their latest creation given the chance, but nothing is ever said. And occasionally, community members give critiques where they are simply not wanted (or deserved) and confusion (or worse) ensues. Well, this is the place where feedback is both appropriate and free.

GUIDELINES

Posting:
1. One at a time... no flooding.
2. Don't expect praise.
3. If you want specifics, ask specifically.
4. No works-in-progress (WIPs).
5. Don't argue down comments.

Critiquing:
1. Be clear; articulate.
2. Be intelligent.
3. Include supportive reasoning.
4. Focus on negatives in a positive manner.
5. No subjective conclusions.**

Furthermore... if you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen; so be cool.

**Keep your comments as objective as possible; for example, try to say: 'the shaping seems inconsistent' rather than the purely subjective 'I don't like the shaping' but never add unwarranted conclusions like 'the shaping looks as if you gave up'... unless, of course, it's hilarious or you're already secret lovers.
