About Incidental Fill Light

This group is all about those magic moments when natural light creates fill lighting that speaks to our core.

Whether it is from building reflections, someone reading a book or all the millions of ways that nature provides something that all the strobist planning in the world cannot. That unique timing and circumstance which creates a special moment in which a subject is wonderfully lit by both a primary and reflected light.

Fill light can be misunderstood. It is secondary lighting that adds a "fill" to a photograph but it is not the primary lighting. These moments are ever so rare. I've always appreciated these moments and they're not usually something you can seek, they just happen!

Nothing against the strobist world, I love it to death, but

The guidelines are pretty simple. Photos where there are two lighting sources, one of which is reflected to create a serendipitous shot. It could be sunlight as the primary but its also possible to that man made lighting can create these unique, beautiful and unplanned moments.
