Ladies and Gentlemen of this group: The number of posts for our challenges are waning significantly. It seems that we have a problem. It may just be that many of our members are busy with Summer or (depending on what part of the world you live in) Winter, or just life in general. Whatever the reason there seems to be a lack of interest in participating in this group.
The original leaders of the group are no longer able to administer it. So I would like some input on whether you would like to continue the group or just let it go. If there is an interest in continuing, we will need a couple of people to come forward to be administrators. I've enjoyed my time in this position but would like to go back to just being a group member. Please post your thoughts here and lets see what you all think. I'll finish out the alphabet challenges and then we'll make a decision as a group whether to continue. Have a good week hunting for U's and V's (or both!)

I have noticed that the same few members are regular posters, and we have 259 members! I know most of those are one time posters, but this level of participation is deplorable. I have to admit that I have skipped some challenges myself, and have not participated in the Retreads as much as I should.
I hope we get some discussion going here about the future of the group.

This comes as no surprise as Noel points out I too have noticed less coming to the group.I will be posting this week and one more to the group next week and that will be my last submissions.

Pam thank you for keeping this group going after Debbie has left. It's been fun and I very much enjoyed doing your weekly challenges.

I am noticing this same situation with many of the other groups I am a member of at this point and time. I assume it is summer, but can't say for sure. I would hate to see this group stop. I think we all have improved our skill and creativity due to it. I am sorry to say with my work situation I would be unable to administer the group reliably. Thank you Pamela for all you've done to keep it going.

You have been an angel, a champion, a lifesaver and a very good friend for volunteering a long time ago to help with the group at a time when I was needing/wanting to be somewhere else much of the time. It seems much of the time has turned into all of the time lately and yet you have again stepped up and again become the heart and soul of a group that used to have my heart and soul. I HUGELY regret and never intended for it to go this way. As far as I knew, I was taking a little time off but always assumed I'd be here and be part of what we all started together. It was never my plan to go completely AWOL on you or the group. It is with great sadness, heaviness of heart and HUGE regret that I am not able to take back the reins of this group. I LOVE this group and all the people that joined me here and helped make into what it became. It has not failed because of anyone other than me. I seriously dropped the ball and you were graciously there willing to pick it up. I am seriously in debt to you for all you've done and to the group for continuing to support you by showing up and participating week after week when your leader was absent and now gone. My apologies . . . all I can say is simply that "I'm sorry". I sincerely wish that I could reach out and do for you and for the group what you've all done for me but I'm just not there nor ready to be here.

Since the passing of my sister in November, I have struggled to be me without her. Our lives were so entwined and the truth is, I don't know how to be me anymore without her here to share, support, encourage, inspire, understand and applaud. As much as I miss taking pictures and miss being here among all of the friends that have become like family, I am struggling to be here. I sincerely hope this extended absence is still only temporary and that I will find my way back. I feel that it is too much to ask for someone even a willing someone like you Pam who has done it for so long and so wonderfully, to continue to do so. It would be wrong. It seems the right thing to do is to allow you to finish the alphabet challenges (which by the way, I thought were brilliant) and then I will close the group unless someone can persuade me otherwise.

I cannot thank you all enough for keeping this alive for me. I hope I can find you all when I return because you have each one become someone special to me.

I love the project, I know that I personally have been busy this summer and have not been able to keep up on every day but I do enjoy it. It would be sad to see it end. Sorry I don't have a solution

Flickr itself seems so very much quieter all the time these days but that information is no help to you Pam with the group. I enjoy getting out there to find something for the weekly challenge and apologise for not adding anything on a Thursday. If you must close the group I will be amongst those who will be very sad to see it go. At the moment I can't think of any constructive advice as to how to get the sparkle back nor can I offer to take up a more active role within the group. I hope that someone will come forward and offer to help out and that the group will stay open.

Thank you Pam for all you have done, it is very much appreciated.

And thank you all for your kind words to me. It's been fun, but it definitely lost its heart without you Debbie. I hope you'll soon be feeling your characteristic zest for life. You deserve to be happy.

I think most of groups are a bit "off" during summer, but it's true that very few people participate in this one, though I thought that the ABC project was a good chance. If you decide to close the group, I'll understand it, but it'd be a pitty.

Debbie & Pam, your tirelss efforts in this challenging group have been so much appreciated even if you did not always know how much our lives were enriched. My job in since returning from Mexico has keep me away from Flickr more than ever but the time I have spent in the evenings I have noticed a lower participation this Summer. I am with everyone on this benefits of this group of fabulous folks. You all keep us stretching our creative process & looking at life in different manner. This group at times has been the difference between a good Monday versus just another day of the week.

Dear Debbie and Pam,

I am SO sorry that this Group is not so active anymore...I have also been wondering where everyone has been. I know I have missed out all of August as I have lost my full time job and have been doing odd 'fill-in' hours...a lot of evening hours and some weekends. I can't seem to do as much photography with my best friend lately either, I don't know why we can't seem to get much time together the past 4 weeks. I will be extremely disappointed if this Group closes, but I am not able to be an Administrator, sorry to say :-(

This has been the BEST and most ENJOYABLE Group I have ever joined here on flickr and if it ends, I will be very sad, but I also understand how demanding it is to be an Administrator...it takes a lot of dedication and time.

Pam, you have been a wonderful takeover for Debbie... and Debbie, you have made a wonderful Group! I SO appreciate you both and wish you all of life's best and support whatever decision is made about this much loved Group!

Debbie,
I know your pain in losing a sibling as I lost my baby brother not so terribly long ago...even though you have every right to mourn your loss, please don't forget your loved ones that are still here with you as they are mourning as well...take time out to enjoy spending time with them...and make sure you tell them just how much they are loved...it will make a difference in all of your lives.

God Bless you both, Debbie and Pam....xoxoxoxox

Debbie and Pam,

I have always loved Monday's Photo Challenges and have felt bad about not participating every week. As you know, stuff happens...

At an age that some people think about retirement, I have forced to find ways to make money. After 23 years with the same company, they decided that I was costing them too much money and hired a pretty girl young enough to be one of my kids. That is not the reason they gave me, but that is the reason. My son Henry is a freshman at Baylor and Grace is a sophomore at Texas Tech.

This has kept me very busy in the startup of my own business, because no one is looking to hire as 64 year old even if he is in great health.

The really good news is that I am finally doing something that I love, and a web site will soon be open. First and foremost, I will be offering the service of RESTORING and CONVERTING color slides, prints of any kind, negatives, etc., to digital - with the choice of adding a a movie DVD to go with the the jpeg or tiff images. My father-in-law had about 1,200 color slides to practice on, and I found hundreds of B&W and Color prints to work on also. The Scanner and Software are state of the art.
The training has taken a long time, because I'm about quality, and if customers are not happy, I will refund their money. Flickr friends and Family will get a 10% discount from standard pricing.
Pam and Deb., and the rest of this group have been outstanding in their creativity.
Thanks,
Lance

I didn't do it--because it became to difficult to do the alphabet--even though I have always wanted too. To many irons in the fire. I have checked back to see if we were back to random subjects. Because I have missed the group. that is the truth. Pam you have been such a faithful friend to us all. And don't quit Debbie. I love your creativity and your photography. Remember your sis through your photography--I would love to hear stories about her and you. I don't want the group to die.
But it is up to you two. Gods blessing on both of you.
