why do we love it? are we collectors? do we ultimately fear death, and so subconsciously counter this fear with our vast pictorial collections of 'ephemera'? a means of reminding ourselves that we are surrounded by the world, and are thus [for the time being] safe.
[please don't furnish me with the literal meaning of 'ephemera'. i am well aware it refers almost specifically to printed matter. the definition of ephemera with regard to this group is widely accepted colloquially - in fact, being digital simulacrums of the physical photograph, the literal meaning can indeed be applied with respect to the submissions the group receives]
