About Saharan Ecology

This group is intended to be about the ecology of the Sahara. The idea is that people post photos of plants and animals (including evidence of animals' presence, such as tracks) from the Sahara, WITH DESCRIPTIONS! Please either add a description of the subject of the photo, or at least give information on where the photo was taken - not just the country but also the area and type of environment. Please give scientific and/or local/popular names where these are available. If you want others in the group to identify a species you've sighted then please leave a comment to that effect.

Photos of plants that are used by local people as food resources are welcome, as are any photos relating to the details of how indigenous peoples survive in the Sahara and use the natural resources. Again, please include descriptions with your photos. The idea of the group is information sharing - who knows, it might save your life if you ever find yourself lost without food or water!

Please no photos of sand dunes, people looking glamorous in headgear, vehicles driving through dramatic lanscapes, etc.
