Unfiltered; Straight from the Tap! a photo series devoted to New Yorkers celebrating NY tap water.

The background
New York City’s water system has been called the eighth wonder of the world – an elaborately engineered network of watersheds, 19 reservoirs and gravity-fed aqueducts. Ninety percent of the City’s water comes from the Catskill/Delaware Watershed, pristine and unfiltered – 1.2 billion gallons a day. This water was declared the winner of the 2008 New York State Water Taste Test. Eight million residents of New York City enjoy this superior-quality water that flows from the Catskill/Delaware watershed.

We love our clean tap water and plan on keeping it that way! For New York City and State!

This photo series portrays New Yorkers enjoying tap water in its bountiful and diverse uses. We are collaborating with a group of professional photographers to capture New Yorkers using our most precious resource.

Water flows through everything we do; from your morning shower and cup of coffee to your laundry, painting class, washing your dishes, gardening and every meal you eat.

We want to see you!
Show us how much you love your tap water, New York!
Grab a friend and start shooting!

Here are some suggested scenarios:
-a big bubble bath
-playing in a kiddie pool
-drinking water straight from the tap
-baking a chocolate cake
-steam rooms
-doing laundry the old fashioned way, in a bucket
-finger painting portraits of your friends
-making a clay pottery cup to drink tap water with
-washing the dishes or scrubbing the floor- a whole Cinderella theme
-The possibilities of playing with tap water are endless!

NOTE:
Use your imagination! The more diverse the situations and the people, the better. Be creative. They can be fun and wacky, family oriented, sweet, whatever you want. Just have an ecstatic relationship with the tap water.
