About Afghanistan 2009 - Year of the 'Surge'
In 2009, Barrack Obama took office as President of the United States and declared a renewed focus on the deteriorating war within Afghanistan. Just weeks after inauguration, President Obama approved sending up to 17,000 more troops to improve security within the country. The photos of this group document the people involved (military & civilian) and the events that unfold in Afghanistan as a result of what some media have called "Obama's War."
