About "IL CORPO ODIATO" - "THE HATEFUL BODY"
"Il corpo odiato" - "The hateful body" is the title of my new novel published by Mondadori. The book is about anorexia from a male point of view and I decided to create this new group in order to see how other flickr members would react to this delicate matter.
It is ivery nteresting for me to see how the title of my novel would inspire photographers from all over the world.
Please note that you will be able to contribute with a single picture to this group.
Here is the plot:
At the age of nineteen, Gabriele decides to leave his small village in the wilds of the central Italian Apennines for a new life in France. His departure is sudden, and he leaves without saying goodbye to anyone: he is escaping from the boredom of a middle-class upbringing and a family unable to understand him. In Paris he finds first a room and then a job as a shop assistant in a celebrated jewellers on the Avenue Montaigne. Although he doesn't yet realise it, this is the real beginning of his journey. A painful, but necessary, voyage of discovery towards the terrible acceptance of a desire so far from the accepted norms to which he had previously rigorously adhered: the desire for a perfect body. .....
Ecco, in breve, la storia:
A diciannove anni, Gabriele decide di lasciare il suo piccolo paese perso nell’Appennino marchigiano per andare a vivere in Francia. Parte da un giorno all’altro, senza salutare nessuno: fugge dalla noia di un’infanzia borghese e da una famiglia incapace di condividere le sue emozioni. A Parigi cerca una camera in cui dormire e trova lavoro come commesso in una famosa gioielleria dell’avenue Montaigne. Ancora non lo sa: ma il suo vero viaggio comincia proprio ora. Sarà un viaggio doloroso, ma necessario, alla scoperta di sé, verso l’atroce accettazione di un desiderio lontanissimo da tutte le regole che fino a quel momento si è ferreamente imposto: il desiderio di avere un corpo perfetto e degno di essere amato da un altro ragazzo.....
