About 100% Handmade

Handmade art. Jewelry. Clothing. Food.

Often this doesn't really mean 100% handmade. Some parts are bought in stores, in mass quantities, for use in your work. Buttons. Zippers. Beads. Canvases. Store bought spaghetti sauce.

But I mean it. 100% handmade. That means no premade, mass produced finished components. But anything you make that is 100% handmade is perfect for this group, so show it off! Buying raw materials is, of course, just fine, as is buying other handmade finished components to use in your creations. But they must be handmade by someone, if they are fabricated items.

For example, if you make jewelry, your beads must be handmade if they are wood, glass or ceramic (I allow an exception for cut stones like diamonds, lapidary cabochons, etc. as long as they are less than 15% of your total piece, and if you can get them handmade, please do!) your clasps, spacer beads, connectors, everything, handmade by someone. Nothing bought at a bead store save the wire used to wire wrap, for example.

The one exception for jewelry artists is the chain. If the chain is not an integral part of the piece and is just what the piece is hung on, a store bought chain is acceptable in the photo.

Did you make a batch of homemade noodles and sauce from scratch? Share it!

You say handmade and you walk the talk! Join us and be proud!
