About Potts Clocks

William Potts was the first of the Potts family to go into clock-making, followed by another four consecutive generations of the family.

Originally based in Leeds the Potts companies (William Potts & Sons and Charles Potts & Co) are well recorded in "Potts of Leeds: Five generations of Clockmakers" by Michael S. Potts, published by Mayfield Books in 2006.

The book contains a list of over 1600 public clocks by Potts, detailing when and where they were installed as well as a brief specification.

Although Potts clocks went all over the world, there are a large number still in public buildings.
