Newsnetz: Please stop using Flickr pictures without asking

Recently, the Swiss publishing house Tamedia and its online branch Newsnetz* have started to take pictures from Flickr and use them commercially by illustrating their online articles – with neither asking nor compensating the photographers. By doing so, they have violated the spirit of various Creative Commons licences, and ignored other copyright statements.

We, the members of this group, object to this behavior and politely ask Newsnetz to stop it.


Please only post screenshots to the pool that document the contested use on their websites, or the misappropriated pictures you initially posted to Flickr. – Both directly affected Flickr users and concerned netizens are invited to join this group and support our petition.
