Gravestone Hopping Bag

Inspired by the Flickr Group, "What's in Your Bag?", I decided to clean out my bag as it is time for me to start the cemetery hopping season (Hey, sports have seasons, why not us?).

I have added some poison ivy wipes to my kit since I took the photo.

Gravestone Photography Bag

There is an explanation to the bag for the non-gravestone people, but you may want to click on the photo and read what is NOT shown here.

Comments are welcome....

In the spirit of sharing what I have learned:

Wow..It looks like you are going camping for a few days. The only thing I carry with me is the camera & a cell phone.

I have actually used most of this on my adventures. Many of the cemeteries are very old and overgrown. The secret to finding the right stones requires a lot of work and writing a plan beforehand.

This is quite cool. There were many times when I could have used some of these items for a better photo - or a more comfortable time!

Yeah, me too.... like the time I kneeled down over a hill of fire ants. I was so wrapped up in getting the perfect shot, I had no idea that they were there. OUCH!
Usually my bag just contains 3 cameras, extra film, batteries, wipes for the lenses, cell phone, and car keys.
I think from now on, I will carry a first aid kit in the trunk of my car.... just in case.

My husband chose the pink fanny pack so he can easily spot me but I do try to stay in one spot and then move when I am done. The digital camera makes it so much easier. If I see names I don't recognize buried with anybody in my charts, then I take them too. As soon as I am back, I put ALL the photos in a folder on my hard drive and burn them to a CD with the month and year. Then, I start the process of organizing them.

The kneelers are very handy. I often have to sit and look at my shots and that's what the round purple thing is for OR for setting the whole bag down if it is damp.

This is a great bag and you seem to have everything in it for transcribing and photographing!

I take a small broom along to sweep grass clippings and other debris off the tombstones before I photograph them.

I usually drag along the family one to drive, and one to photograph. Hahaha.
